Von Doren Tandberg is a tribute to the Norwegian engineer and industrial leader Vebjørn Tandberg, renowned for his groundbreaking design and superior quality. The watch's design is inspired by the aesthetics of Tandberg's products; the stainless steel case is rectangular with a satin, glass-blasted finish and a polished bezel framing the flat sapphire crystal. The color palette and choice of materials reflect Tandberg's iconic products: a sleek combination of satin-finished steel and muted blue tones that highlight the watch's minimalist design. The tip of the second hand is coated in red lume and hovers above a blue ellipse along the edge of the dial, reminiscent of the frequency indicator on Tandberg's TR20 series. The crown, resembling a volume knob, is inlaid with onyx.

INSPIRATION

A tribute to the past, made for the future

During Norway’s post-war technological boom, few names symbolized quality and innovation quite like Tandberg. Now, decades later, Von Doren continues this legacy with its latest release: Tandberg. The watch is a unique homage to Norwegian craftsmanship, timeless design, and pioneering spirit – marking a meeting point between past and future.

Vebjørn Tandberg: A pioneer in Norwegian industry

The name ‘Tandberg’ evokes powerful memories for many Norwegians and HiFi enthusiasts alike. Vebjørn Tandberg was more than an engineer; he was a visionary, and his vision was to create the perfect product. In the 1950s and 60s, Tandberg’s products were renowned far beyond Norway’s borders, with many of his innovations setting standards for both sound quality and design. It is this combination of functionality and design that has inspired Von Doren’s latest creation.

   Design that tells a story:

Founder Øyvind Von Doren received his first Tandberg Sølvsuper 10 as a young boy and has been an avid collector of Tandberg products since. This watch has been in development for nearly three years, and in February 2023 Von Doren was granted the Tandberg trademark for mechanical watches. Now, the watch is finally ready for launch.
